Unauthorized access is when someone uses someone else's password or other methods to gain access to a website, software, server, device, or network. For example, if anyone tried to guess a password or username for an account that was not theirs until they obtained access, this is called unauthorized access.
Unauthorized access can also occur if a user attempts to access an area of a network that they should not access. They would be denied access when attempting to access that area and could see an unauthorized access message. Many system administrators set up alarms to let them know when an unauthorized attempt is being made to access them, so they can investigate the cause. These warnings could help stop hackers from accessing a safe or confidential system. Several security mechanisms can lock an account that has had so many failed login attempts.
